Robert "Bob" Karl Redenz passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Danbury Hospital surrounded by friends and family. He was married to the late Lorainne Redenz.
Robert was born in NYC, on Nov. 2, 1931, to Karl and Martha Redenz. The family moved to New Fairfield in 1950. Bob worked many years in the family business learning his craft as a butcher and wurst maker from his father Karl of Karl Redenz & Son Butcher Shop of NYC and Danbury. Robert "Bob" Karl Redenz passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Danbury Hospital surrounded by friends and family. He was married to the late Lorainne Redenz.
Robert was born in NYC, on Nov. 2, 1931, to Karl and Martha Redenz. The family moved to New Fairfield in 1950. Bob worked many years in the family business learning his craft as a butcher and wurst maker from his father Karl of Karl Redenz & Son Butcher Shop of NYC and Danbury. For a time, Bob was the Meat Manager at The Finest Grocery store in Bethel, until taking over the family business with his wife Lorraine; providing wholesale meats to the best restaurants and hotels in Westchester, Fairfield and surrounding counties until his retirement in 2005. Over the past 7 years he enjoyed providing excellence in customer service to the patrons of Mercedes Benz of Danbury.
Bob was active in the New Fairfield community as a member of the New Fairfield Fire Department Company A, a past member of the New Fairfield Board of Education and of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 42 Committee. Bob enjoyed supporting the New Fairfield Lions Club by carving the roast beef nightly at the annual Lions carnival. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Bob is a member and Past President of the Connecticut Cycle Riders Association.
A loving husband, he is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine Hayter Redenz. Bob is survived by his two sons, Robert Mark, and his wife Gail of Singapore, and John of New Fairfield; Four grandchildren, Brittany and Cory of Danbury, and Cassidy and Robert Guenther of Moseley, Virginia; and his two sisters Paula Felicio and Eleanor LaMar. A loving husband, father, PopPop, Uncle, Cousin and friend, Bob will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 from 4 to 7pm. Burial will take place at Mountain View Cemetery, Rt. 39, New Fairfield, on Monday September 19, 2016 at 12:00pm.
